Questions, answered

Does Galley replace a human editor?

For sentence‑level work — grammar, punctuation, clarity, consistency and line craft — Galley is genuinely strong and does the job of a professional copyedit and proofread. For deep developmental work like restructuring plot or argument, it gives you an assessment and notes, but a human editor's judgment still leads. Think of it as a tireless copyeditor that hands you a clean redline to review.

What files can I upload?

Word documents (.docx) and PDFs. Word files keep their structure most faithfully; PDF chapter detection is approximate. You can export a clean Word file or a native tracked‑changes redline.

Will it change my book without asking?

Never. Galley only proposes edits as tracked changes. Nothing is altered in your manuscript until you accept it — individually, by category, or all at once.

Is my manuscript private?

Your text is processed only to generate your edits and is never used to train models. We recommend operators publish a clear privacy policy and terms before launch.

What counts toward my monthly limit?

Editing a manuscript runs in sections. Your plan includes a generous monthly allowance — roughly measured in manuscripts — and it resets at the start of each month. You can always see what you've used in the editor.
